...I must be missing something when I watch L.Brown.
He skates around in circles and doesn't do anything.
Reminds me of Rick Nash....minus the occasional finish Nash had.

The best part is that they actually used the back-to-back as the excuse...

Marcus Hogberg starts tonight vs #Flames

Logan Brown will be a healthy scratch tonight. Smith says it’s because of the back to back. #Sens

you're missing a TON. kid has insane vision, great shot, slick hands, good skater. he's going to be a VERY good top six center

dumbest thing I've ever read. I've agreed with most of what Smith has done, but that was beyond stupid

People shouldn’t read too much into the Brown thing. He has shown glimpses of very good play, but I think there can be more. I am not sure why people have been over the top impressed with him. Nothing wrong with watching a game or two from up top. Of course, if he is just going to sit there for games on end, send him back down.

Really shouldn’t make this into something like sitting a star. Right now, he’s a prospect still developing. Part of the process.

if that's what it is, then say that's what it is.......don't make up some BS about back to back games.

also, don't say you're taking him out and putting in Beaudin...claiming that Beaudin has played well, when he's been virtually invisible every game he's played

I don’t know. You don’t want to publicly slam the kid either. I feel the back to back has some merit. Brown is coming off an injury. I don’t really get the Beaudin stuff, but sometimes the coach needs to pump the tires for the replacement. Coaches say PR friendly things all the time. This isn’t really no different.

for it to be PR friendly it has to be at least a little believable.............for a 21 year old to not be able to play back to back, I mean come on. he played the previous back to back games without issue, so claiming it's cuz of his previous injury doesn't fly

My personal take on Logan Brown is that he'll be the team's #2C when the whole 'unprecedented success' train gets moving. He appears to be a more naturally gifted offensive player that Colin White, is a very good puck distributor, and has the size to mix up the look of the offense and be a strong PP contributor. However, looking ahead to the next decade of NHL hockey, your top line really does have to be built around players with both skill and speed. Teams used to drool over the 6'4+ centre, who also had this level of skill... but now the first question is what impact that size might have on his skating, and potential career longevity.

Basically, on a good team where he had a decent winger or two and consistent PP exposure, I could see him putting up 60pts-70pts in a supporting offensive role. But he'll certainly be pressured by the likes of Josh Norris and Colin White, both of whom already seem to have more developed two-way games, and may not give up that much in terms of scoring upside. And given the talent of the upcoming draft and the number of picks available to the team, you could see even more competition for that roster spot in the very near future.

That's sort of where I see him, too. The 1C of the future isn't in the picture yet.

Lol

The only “believable” thing he can say is the truth really. Then he’d probably be ostracized for that.

Bottom line is Smith is holding players accountable. Just because you are young and, on a rebuilding team does not mean you are entitled to a firm roster spot. Personally, I love this mentality.

No sense getting your t!t in a wringer over this. He's probably showing the kid a little tough love without hanging out him in the press.

Classy move by Smith if you ask me.

i love that mentality too, but he seems to pick and choose who it applies to. guys like anisimov and sabourin have been staples in the lineup (when healthy) despite contributing absolutely nothing, night in and night out. someone like zaitsev, who's been HORRIBLE on the top pairing continues to get thrown out with Chabot.

i really like what smith has done for the most part, but he's made some decisions that make no sense
